Weimar - the legend and city of culture

The cosmopolitan town of Weimar on the banks of the River Ilm has been both the focus and source of many sweeping cultural and intellectual events over the past four hundred years. 3.5 million tourists visit the city every year and fall under its extra-special spell, following in the footsteps of great luminaries, or simply enjoying the charms of a small urban centre with a global outlook and a warm welcome for its visitors.

The beautifully redeveloped town centre hosts an array of heritage spots and sites associated with Goethe, Schiller, Liszt, Nietzsche and the protagonists of the Bauhaus movement. 

And Weimar is still a cultural force to be reckoned with today, with its German National Theatre, annual arts festival and select cabaret events. With such a sophisticated range of attractions on offer, there is something to suit everyone.
