"Olle DDR" (Old GDR) exhibition in the Barracks Museum Apolda

The permanent exhibition entitled "Olle DDR" has a huge assembly of thematically-arranged exhibits - more than 1,200, in fact, ranging from old East German brands of cleaning products to official documents.

This comprehensive collection is no random mishmash however, but a portrayal of daily life in East Germany, and as such, vividly re-awakens long-buried memories.  

Time having soothed the strongest passions, this "blast from the past" is able to raise smiles in its visitors, but also provides an opportunity for reflection. This exhibition sets out to portray the history of everyday life in East Germany - nothing more, nothing less.
