Auerstedt Castle

The village of Auerstedt in the Weimarer Land district has a population of 496 and has blossomed into a real gem over the years.

Auerstedt has already secured a place in the history books, as Auerstedt Castle was the Prussian headquarters of King Friedrich Wilhelm III during the twin battles of Jena and Auerstedt in 1806 .

A memorial at the castle's local history museum commemorates this decisive battle with a diorama depicting the Prussian troops advancing.

The neighbouring building houses the Carriage Museum , which exhibits 17 historical coaches from the era of Weimar Classicism.

On the first Sunday in the month (except January), a family day is held in the castle courtyard featuring a bric-à-brac market and culinary specialities.

After a journey back through history, it is well worth stopping at Reinhardt's restaurant and museum café. With its charming atmosphere and gourmet cuisine, this castle restaurant is a popular favourite in the Weimarer Land region among connoisseurs.
