The Bad Berka Well Festival

Every year in June the town of Bad Berka celebrates its traditional well festival in the spa gardens.

The programme promises plenty of entertainment for visitors of all ages - there is something for everyone!

In alternating years, the festival includes either a grand parade - always on a new theme - or the Bad Berka Sculpture Symposium, in memory of honorary citizen and sculptor, Adolf Brütt.

At the symposium, young sculptors meet and create works from sandstone in Bad Berka's spa gardens over the course of a week. Visitors are able to watch them at work. The artworks are awarded prizes and receive a worthy place in the park or in the town. 

Anyone who has already been to the well festival will know that a great atmosphere and good spirits are par for the course - and it is a tradition that has lived on for more than 100 years. This custom goes back to 1888 when the people of Bad Berka celebrated the 75th anniversary of the founding of the town's baths.
